  1. I used NFM's wonderful x64 updates and ad-ons... I enjoyed it so much that I went back to get XP (non-64) versions to update my wife's computer. I swear he had packs for non x64 but i can't find non x64 stuff. I'm getting old and maybe senile anyone straighten me out? Does or did NFM have XP support? The DVDFab decrypter helped me copy my little kids movies so i don't have to buy "Elmo purple dragon veggietails" every month. I did see Ryan's stuff but it was looking ala cart i'd prefer just to install it all. http://www.zeroangel.ch/XP64_ua_cd_pack/updatepack.html
  2. just did another x64 insdtall and it won't let me add the quick launch bar again.... any ideas
  3. SFC confusing Language Disable the Enable, Enable the Disable, Enable the Enable, Disable the Disable I find the SFC descriptive language very confusing. I'm none to smart but i can usually figure stuff out. There are 75 hits in the forum under 'SFC confusing' and i'm not sure i understand this subject after scanning them. Is it because it uses a double negative? "SFC (Windows File Protection) Enabled (default) | Disable Disable automatic recovery of replaced or deleted system files and folders. This disables SFC during and after install, drastically decreasing the duration of your installation." Here are my reads: 1) Default is SFC (Windows File Protection) Enabled (default)... SFC Windows File Protection is on as if Bill Gates installed it himself. 2) "Disable automatic recovery of replaced or deleted system files and folders." Now I'm getting confused... is this statement telling me that "Enabled" is enabling the disable? Or Disabling the Enable.... Or is it language confirming that Disable needs to be selected to disable the enable. Does this mean that I have to select Disable to to Enable SFC.... My read is the opposite of what i thought statement 1) enabled does indeed disable SFC. 3) " This disables SFC during and after install, drastically decreasing the duration of your installation." Would seem to imply that using the enabled default is in fact disabling SFC. What I want to do is this "drastically decreasing the duration of your installation." What shiny little button should I push. none to smart shortbean
  4. >>well did you bother reading my post right before yours? i personally hate wmp and will never use it, it cant even play half of the movies i have and its a major resource hog. - ripken204 << Well I love WMP!! It easy to install if it's not already unless you got x64 goof ball install like I did. It's got a great Gui, it looks nice, it's free, you can control it's Trojan horse tendencies, and it's well supported. In fact In your ripping it's arguably the best product to do it. FLAC? Monkey? LA are okay but where will the support be in 5 years when they like Baboon better? Meanwhile my WMP Lossless with error correcting 20,000 songs will be well supported and and if I need to convert them to baboon some whiz kid will make an app. http://avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?...light=shortbean http://members.home.nl/w.speek/comparison.htm http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?ti...less_comparison http://web.inter.nl.net/users/hvdh/lossless/lossless.htm Now Real Alternatives is a nice app. It may look like crap and crashes a tad but it's free. Recall why it's needed thou because Real Audio (Liberal Democrat Senator from Washington Maria Cantwell) made a huge Trojan Horse Big Brother application called Real Player. And I thought Liberals were against Big Brother. Or take the Trojan horse Quicktime from a huge Liberal Steve Jobs. Yes WMP can be a Trojan Horse but you can plug it up if you install it right and select the correct items. Microsoft is the cheapest monopoly ever. I pay $90 every 2-3 years to get a new well supported OS. Type my problem in google and I get 100's pages of fixes. Linux is the opposite. If Linux had any capitalistic spirit they would sell the Operating System and figure a way to share the cash with people who code. The coders would be millionaires and the public would all use Linux and FLAC. But since they are hippie types and hate profit they give us some mikey mouse apps and crappy OS. If these liberals who choose not to market their own product or they sell their cool OS and other software to Microsoft would just stand up and say I have a dream about my product and i'm not selling it! I'm taking MS head-on and I'm gonna beat 'em! But these Liberals sell there souls and ideas for cash... buy basketball teams and do nothing. The day that MS decides to charge $1000 for it's OS we will see 5 Alt OS's. Is MS a big Liberal Corporation? Yes but they smartly keep their mouths shut about it. I have no idea why they love the people that hate them and try to put 'em out of business but that's there issue. I just enjoy using my WMP. Resource happy? Your absolutely right but this is because the competition is so poorly commercial.
  5. Ya I love it but i didn't click the don't install button on NLite cause i knew i wanted it... don't know why it went away. Manual install i'll search to find directions thank you very much
  6. So i go to MS to download WMP 10 for x64. I click on link here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...r/versions.aspx takes me here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...10/default.aspx says i'm gonna DL WMP 10 BUT BUT BUT it sends me to WMP 11 beta here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...d/download.aspx I DL this wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe (cut paste this) and it says no no x64 install. How do i get a WMP 10 player?
  7. Day 1 Windows x64 NLite Install Missing Quick Launch Bar This is a interesting one. I did a NLite install last night for Windows x64. It seemed to go well. I actually did not take out or add much... just a few things. In the end it was bigger than normal install cause I added the Yukon ethernet driver. (I usually scrap a ton of stuff for most installs but was having a seperate issue than this and wanted to see if it reappeared with a non-aggresive full install.) To make a long story short my quicklaunch bar did not come up... and when i enable it..... and than 'apply' or 'ok' it closes normally and fails to add the quick launch bar. When I return to add quick launch bar menu it again is unchecked.... so I did search found a little note to add these. I did and got bupkis. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/QLError.htm REGSVR32 /i SHELL32.DLL REGSVR32 /i BROWSEUI.DLL I'm at my wits end... well not really. I'm not even mildly annoyed just curious. Any wiz kids want a crack at it? Hmm just dawned on me those imply 32 not 64 reg files... maybe i'll try them 64 style. REGSVR64 /i SHELL64.DLL REGSVR64 /i BROWSEUI.DLL Day 2 Set to classic view all over Removed search & docs from start menu. Added x64 version to bottom right of screen. Did select disable group. Disable hide inactive. I'll reinstall same disk in a couple hours see if it's the same. just wondering if anyone else ran into it. Ya i usually remove something in the order of 110 MBs but I’m having a stutter issue in games now and I’m trying to track it down so i did full install. BTW I’d love to see your list of disabled services... Now that BlackVipers site is down and cause he ever did one for x64. It showed a negative content remove on install since i added the Yukon driver like displayed "(-.17)" or something like that Day 3 Did a minimal install and tried to axe all usless crap. It was late I missed a few things I went to sleep and woke uptooo. Quick Launch Bar was back!!!!! Day 4 Did a new minimal Install trying to find this bug again and i found it!!! I used previous install load and changed a few settings and did a full install. QUICK LAUNCH BAR IS MISSING AND CAN NOT BE ADDED!!! Okay I have both saved Nlite presets.. The one with the bar and without it. But i changed like 10-15 settings. But i Don't even know where to start to find out which selection is axen' out the quick launch bar. Without doing 15 installs i'd like to find the guilty party. Any hints.. I did a search but everyone is talking about some Mozilla quick launch thing.
