Hi, I enjoy having found this site. The peoples from MS-newsgroups directed me here. I plan to make my Win XP Pro SP2 install CD up-to-date no until SP3 is available. But I start to study this process just now to have enough time to prepare myself till there. I tend to manuall updating the win install CD without any tools (if possible). have just started to study the "Unattended Windows Introduction" to get an overview of the whole process. However I get confused reading some instructions: 1. Following the link "Beginning users\Step 3....\Installing the hotfixes\Introduction" I'm landing in the following place "Step 2 - Slipstreaming the Latest Service Pack". 2. "Beginning users\Step 3....\Getting the hotfixes\Method 3...." - I am unable to find "Personalize Windows Update" link on the left pane if running my Windows Update (I'm working all the time as restricted win user). In my Windows Update only following topics are visible on the left pane - Review your update history - Restore hidden updates - Change settings - FAQ - Get Help and Support - Use administrator options After some delay the win upate is indicating following error " [Error number: 0x8DDD0004] The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. Take the following steps to try solving the problem: Refresh the page. In Internet Explorer, delete your Temporary Internet Files by going to the Tools menu and clicking Internet Options. Close and then re-open Internet Explorer. If these steps don’t work, try visiting the site later or using the resources provided below." Seconds before following was presented: "Checking if your computer has the latest version of Windows updating software for use with the website… The website uses ActiveX controls to determine which version of the software your computer is running. If you see an ActiveX warning, make sure the control is digitally signed by Microsoft before installing it or allowing it to run. " [update] Following question is no more valid. Some reading in the home section helped me to understand the difference between all sections.[End of Update] 3. In the introduction to the sections Advanced Users and Intermediate Users following prerequisite is formulated: "A Basic Unattended CD from the Beginner Section is needed". But actually I don't understand it. Both sections are describing integration process of the same components the Beginning Users one is documenting as well. Therefore I don't understand the relation between those three sections Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced. Do they complete each other ? Or is each of them describing the same process with different detail stage ? Could you elaborate these inconsistances please ? Thank you very much in advance. kaweka
