  1. Hi everyone, i running XP with only 256 mb ram, i am trying things to increase my bandwidth as its pretty slow at the moment, or i mean i would like to have it running a bit better, if i could. A friend told me that if i got rid of all my icons on my desktop that i don't really use much , it would increase my bandwidth, is this true ? Also by doing some basic tweaks would that increase my bandwidth ? thanks
  2. Thanks guys, Its going good again now, i only reinstalled the OS a few days back and i knew i had the most recent drivers, but thanks for the good suggestions anyway. I finished up updating all antivirus programs and " Adaware " then picked up 3 problems, i deleted them and then i installled System Mechanic and ran every program that offers, she is running well again. Thanks to both of you for your replies and the shutdown commands, they might come in handy some other time. Have a great day
  3. Hi all, When i press " shut down " my pc doesn't, just carries on like i have not tried to shut it down. I have run Adaware, spydot, AVG, they all say its clean. i appreciate any help, thanks ps - i won't be able to answer any replies straight away, but i will get back here as soon as i can. thanks
  4. That done the trick, thankyou very much.
  5. Thanks for your reply but its still doing the same thing, i deleted the win 2000 line but nothing has changed. Here is what it looks like now - ***************************** BOOT.INI ***************************** [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect **************************** END PREPEND *************************** Is there something i have left there, that shouldn't be still there ? thanks for your help.
  6. Hi all, I was intending to dual boot my XP with my older win 2000, anyway i messed things up a bit and now i just want to run XP only. My problem is that when i startup my pc it still shows the 2 OS's to choose from, i have formatted the win 2000 partition but still the 2 options remain, i just want it to boot normally again, but i don't know how to get rid of that win 2000 option. any help is very much appreciated.
