  1. The program you recommended to me is fair. Well unless I am just unsure how to use it. I ran Identify Installer on some programs and it detected the installer type no problem and gave me the switches. But then I ran it on the ones like Firefox 2.0 and it was not able to detect the installer type. What do I do when the company who makes the software has also designed their own installer? I think Mozilla designed their own installer for Firefox, but I could be wrong. Please let me know if there is any other methods for finding the switches whether it be with the CMenu program or with another. Thanks, The Lone Programmer
  2. I know you can always google for the silent command or see if it was already determined in the forum board, but is there a method to find it manually? I have ResHack, but I don't know if that would work. Does anyone know? If it would find the silent switch then how would I find it? There are a lot of programs out there, too many to list in the forum boards, so that is why I would like to be able to find the silent switches as I feel necessary. Any help is appreciated, The Lone Programmer
  3. I downloaded a bunch of msstyle format themes hoping I could integrate them into my windows installation. I added about 6 of them to integrate. When I was finished I installed the ISO to my virtual machine only to find that only one theme showed up and it was broken. I thought maybe I downloaded bad themes, so I went ahead and tested them on my real installation using the uxtheme patcher. Turns out that they all work 100%. So my question is what am I doing wrong with the themes? Do I have to do something else in order to get them to add or can I just add the msstyle file to the list? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, The Lone Programmer
  4. How come when I try to use a windows gui shell with my WinPE builds I get an nLite.inf file not found. What exactly does nLite add to my windows installation? It seems like it doesn't work very well with any Live CD creator programs such as BartPE. I mean I also have driver errors as well as the nlite.inf file error. Maybe someone knows a solution to this? The Lone Programmer
  5. Detection phase? I am unfamiliar with what you mean by that. I do have another question on top of this one. How come when I try to make a WinPE cd using Windows PE or Bart PE I get driver errors after I've used nLite to integrate drivers. When I boot the ISO's I make with Windows PE and Bart PE in my virtual machine, it will always fail to find the .sys file of the driver. Does that mean I didn't properly integrate the driver? When I use UBCD4Win I get an nLite.inf error when it boots up. I have no clue how to fix that. The same error happens when I add the Windows Skin plugin for BartPE. What is the deal? Thanks, The Lone Programmer
  6. Is there a way to get rid of the CMD console that boots with the WinPE disc? When I close it, my virtual machine just reboots. I have been making a start menu, and it works as well with WinPE, but the console is still there. How are you guys getting WinPE to get a startmenu and everything without having to use the command line and stuff? - The Lone Programmer
  7. Hey, I followed a tutorial on this site which I found in a previous post: http://members.at.infoseek.co.jp/winpx/WindowsPE.htm It is an awsome tutorial, but I get an error when I run the ISO in my Virtual Machine. I am getting an lsass error. I followed the instructions for the first phase exactly. Does the lsass.exe file and dlls get altered when making a live cd? Are the lsass.exe and dll files different on the hard drive than they are on the windows installation cd? Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix? I included an attachment of the error. Any help is appreciated, The Lone Programmer
  8. Hey, I have read over the FAQ and help files, but I am still unsure how to make a LiveCD using the OPK 2002 version that I downloaded. Here is what I did: 1> Start the Setup Manager program 2> Choose the option 'Don't Reseal When Finished' 3> Add my Windows Disc from a directory or CD 4> Enter my OEM company 5> Enter my discs serial code After I do all those steps it asks me to customize it. Since I just want to see it work, I skip down to the bottom and click finished. It asks me to save the file and then it asks me to input a network install location. What do I do? Shouldn't it be making me an ISO so I can burn it to a CD? I don't want to re install windows or anything. I do use BartPE, but I don't really care for the graphical layout that it offers. I like how pretty ERD Commander looks with its solid Windows XP look. I have used the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows, but it always gives me errors if I use it after I have used nLite. What am I missing as far as setting up my Windows PE LiveCD? Thanks, The Lone Programmer
  9. I looked at your change log. It looks as though you are having unneccessary hotfixes removed. Not quite sure though. You said that you periodically trim the list. What do you mean by that? You are skipping out on some of the updates? What about drivers. Would I be safe just going crazy with adding drivers? What if I added a driver, but a month later added a newer version of the same driver. Would that mess things up or would the installation be smart enough to install only the new one? Thanks, The Lone Programmer
  10. I am not too new to nLite, but I still have some concerns. 1> Say I wanted to just integrate a ton of drivers into my XP ISO. Would it slow down the computer I install it on or cause any kind of errors if the computer doesn't contain hardware for the drivers I added? 2> Say I have a Windows XP disc, but it is not a first generation disc. Meaning it has various updates on it. Am I going to experience problems if I integrate RyanVM's update package into my installation? 3> Say I have installed RyanVM's update package June06 version into my installation disc. Would I encounter problems if I later installed RyanVM's update package October06 on top of it? I would really like to just add a crapload of drivers to this disc, but I don't want to run into any complications. I would also like to take the easy way out and just add updates onto a disc without problems as well. Please let me know the answers to my three questions. Thanks, The Lone Programmer
  11. I am fairly new to nLite, and I did a little bit of asking around. I did not ask around here, but to people I know who are good with computers. I do not know which hotfixes, updates, or drivers I have already integrated into my windows disc. I am affraid to download all the windows updates and just re integrate them, because i am un-certain whether or not I will run into problems along the way. My question is: > If I already have the hotfixes, drivers, and updates integrated into my disc, is it bad if I try to integrate them again? > If I tried to re integrate them, would it skip over the file, replace the old file with the new, or create a new slot in a library for it and screw up my windows for trying to install it twice? If I am able to re integrate stuff I would just like to download all the windows xp updates and integrate them in without worrying about corrupting my windows or something. Any help is appreciated.
