Yeah each job scheduled has a specified media set. It seems to literally ignore any media set and choose a random tape to backup to.

I am using veritas backup exec version 9.1 on a windows 2003 server with a HPStorageWorks MSL5000 series library, backing up three separate servers running same OS. I have created three media sets, one for each server, and each day insert three tapes with barcodes that have already been allocated to the appropriate media set, into separate slots, run inventory ready for backup at 21:00, 02:00 and 03:00. I am new to veritas and cant understand why it uses tapes from the incorrect media set. When I look at what has been backed up, every time two, sometimes three tapes have been used to backup the wrong server. Have I missed something? Has anybody had a similar problem? Any help appreciated!

Is there any way you can configure NTBackup on 2000 and 2003 server to name the backup log file it creates after a scheduled backup, something other than the default backup01, backup02 etc, like the name of the day it ran? Also is it possible to write these backup logs to an alternate location such as a folder on a desktop? Any help appreciated!

Is there any way using Ntbackup, to select which job to carry out when there are two scheduled jobs on one day at the exact same time? As an example, I have scheduled a monthly backup to be carried out on the last wednesday of every month (Month7, Month8, Month9 etc), as well as a monthly backup on every 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th wednesday of every month (Wk1, Wk2, Wk3 etc). The majority of months, Wk4 backup clashes with the MonthX backup. I would like to configure Ntbackup to choose to carry out the month backup over the week backup but I cant figure out how. Do you have to use the command line? Any help is appreciated.
