Home network with a either net hub

Hi,

i followed the instructions on the page http://www.homenethelp.com/web/howto/static-ip-address.asp and i did so on both my computers. Now atleast on one of the computers i can see the other computer but on the second computer i cannot see the first computer. I ran the network wizard and chose the option that says that the computers do not have a internet but belong to a network. I check the workgroup and they are same. When i map network drive i have also entered the username and password for that computer but when mapping it says that i do not have permission and that i should contat my system adminstator.

In dos i tried to ping the first computer to the second and it says time out and that 100% data loss. What should i do now that i have already not done. Thanks for your help.
