June 13, 200719 yr Hi,I cannot get Windows Update to work. I get the following message: Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. I have tried the Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended) that Windows Update gives you but that didn't work. I did a search and found this: 1. Click Start.2. Choose Run.3. Type or use cut & past to enter each of the following in the Run Box.(enter them one at a time & pressing OK after each one)net stop wuauservregsvr32 wuapi.dllregsvr32 wups.dllregsvr32 wuaueng.dllregsvr32 wuaueng1.dllregsvr32 wucltui.dllregsvr32 wuweb.dllregsvr32 MSXML.dllregsvr32 MSXML2.dllregsvr32 MSXML3.dllregsvr32 qmgr.dllregsvr32 qmgrprxy.dllregsvr32 jscript.dllnet start wuauserv This did not solve my problem. I also read on the internet that the MSXML3.dll file could become corrupted. I deleted that and downloaded the file from Microsoft but I still can't update. I tried this SFC /SCANNOW. I also tried this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914224/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916248/en-usThey did not help me. Any ideas?

June 14, 200719 yr Consider installing 927891 and 932494, and rebooting. That may solve it as well, as that installs the new Windows Update binaries (and fixes some of the CPU issues as well).
June 15, 200719 yr Author Thanks to everyone for your help. What solved my problem was forcing the instal of the Windows Update Agent (WUA) using the /wuforce switch. Thanks to all for your suggestions again.
