blankmonkey Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I am getting an odd error. I can slip stream sp2 into 2k3, but when i try to run the patches with the /integrate switch, 8 of 11 fail, saying"An error occurred while attempting to integrate this software update package. Verify that the architecture, language, and service pack level of this software update are valid for the target distribution folder."3 of the patches work fine, and I know the others are the right ones, because on a test system, i installed them with no issues with the OS running. I have tried many iterations of moving the files around so there were no spaces or qoutes needed, and I even re-did the sp2 slipstream, and I am still getting these errors. Does anyone have anyideas, google gave me nothing
thundernetbr Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Hi blankmonkey,it has been a mess for me also when I tried to use the /integrate option with XP or 2003 hotfixes. For some reason, even when they worked, at Windows Update some of them kept being shown as 'uninstalled'... So I managed to make them work using the other strategy, using the SVCPACK.INF method (and with a folder under i386 named svcpack ou update - you pick the one you like the most, but don't forget to put the chosen referenced at SVCPACK.INF, this file itself must be under i386 folder). I think it's better to do this way for a single reason: you can update and/or remove the hotfixes superceeded by new ones each month, looking at the topic that once was runned by Incroyable Hulk here. Oh, just a little advice: don't forget to use a RW media, since if you're unexperienced, you'll probably make lots of 'coasters' using CD-Rs... Go at that topic tomorrow (because today M$ is launching another bunch of hfixes for their products) and see how you can do it seamlessly ! --ThundernetBR
