I know how to change the default line spacing in word from double space to single using the styles, but need to find out how to change it in the install template. Cannot find the choice in the msp admin template to change to word 2003 style as the default in word 2007. Help.

A work around is to create a template (.dotm) that has all the settings you want, save it, then let install place that template to the templates folder.

That's what I do.

A template will not work for all settings such as those from options but it will work for like margins, styles, etc.

First, i'm sorry for bringing up such an old post. Please bear with me as i'm very much a noob when it comes to Office.

I am looking for an expanded answer to this question. I've been tasked to make this change for our initial Office 2007 deployments. I haven't found any way to disable the double spacing through the administrative setup so I found this solution. The first thing I did was follow the article here to configure the settings we would like to use as our defaults:

http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-...11-6137320.html

I then saved the file as a Word Macro-enable template (Normal.dotm) and copied it to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\12 and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\12\MseNewFileItems directories (I wasn't sure where it would go, exactly, so it copied it to both locations.)

This does not appear to work, when I open Office it uses the default settings. Furthermore, even when I open the template file in Word on a different machine, it doesn't seem to use those settings.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is there some other steps I need to follow to make this happen?

Never mind, I got it. I had to mess with the template a bit for it to actually 'take' the default font settings, then I copied it over to %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates and it worked.
