WinPE Master Computer Authentication Issue while Installing Configurat

Hi all,

I was able to get the configuration sets working on RAID set and all was working good.

I suddenly started having issues with whole Winpe setup.

Here is what is happening.

The Master computer boots up fine with the customized winpe CD for Network and Raid drivers. Intel 1000 and Intel SATA ICH7DH RAID. It does all the steps like

Installing Hardware devices

Setting Display Resolution

Partitioning Disks

Starting Networking

When it gets to Installing Configuration set it gives this error

Factory.exe

Cant authenticate to Server: Incorrect function.

I tried different username/password combinations, different network cables, switch. And network ports no luck.

I also booted winpe and see that it gets the DHCP IP and also can see under DHCP leases under DHCP Server.

One thing I can ping from the Master to technician computer but Technician computer cannot ping the IP Master got through DHCP.

Any hints or where should I look into. Any help would be great.

If its an authentication issue i would try using the domain in your username (i.e. server=master username=admin would be username=master\admin). I don't know how you are trying to authenticate to whatever server you are trying to connect to, but I have experienced authentication issues when using the "net use" command within PE and the domain name fixed it. That might work, but as Jazkal said, a better explanation of what exactly you are trying to do would help.

I am trying to install ISA 2006 OEM OPK on one of the machines which I will image and blast on rest.

Here is what I did.

(Technician Computer) Installed Windows XP professional SP2 on one machine and then installed Windows Preinstallation kit on that. I made a configuration set say Model XXX

The made the OPKtools share and gave right permissions RW to user which is adam.

Now I also made a customized Winpe CD with Intel 1000 Nics and booted from that CD on the machine (Master Computer)where I want to install ISA OEM OPK.

Now it goes through this process

Factory is performing the following actions:

Installing hardware devices

Setting display resolution

Partitioning disks and formatting drives

Starting networking

Installing Configuration Set

then it shows below error

Cannot authenticate to server: Incorrect fucntion
