How to use Outlook without e-mail

I have a smartphone that I want to use the features of Outlook to sync my contacts and task list from Outlook. I do not want to use e-mail with Outlook. I use Groupwise for work and want to stick with that. Is there a way I can stop it from pulling my groupwise e-mail into Outlook? It seems to bog the system down.

I've looking at the Mail options from the Control Panel (XP Professional) but it won't let me delete it from there.

If you have to have some e-mail, could I set up a dummy hotmail account and have it pull that e-mail in instead of my groupwise e-mail? How would I switch that?
