Media Player Integration in Firefox

Is there a way to make an app like WMPClassic or VLC integrate themselves into pages?

I don't have WMP10 or 11 and I don't plan to install it, but one of the options I really like with it is how it can play videos from news sites like CNN or BBC.

However, whenever I visit sites like that, they ask me to upgrade to the latest version of WMP. Any workaround?

Maybe a way to figure out what the link of the stream is and attempt to play in VLC or the like?

Quit Firefox or Mozilla

Copy the two files in VLC_Installation_folder\mozilla (usually C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\mozilla) to your mozilla plugins directory (Usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla\plugins or C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins).

Restart Firefox or Mozilla
