I have come across a problem that I have never seen before working with word. It's hard to describe but, basically every now and then and it's not every time I try to capitalize a letter this symbol pops up next to the letter "|" It sometimes will pop up on the left or right side of the letter. Example: "|H" or "A|". Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this or at least tell me what is the name of this symbol? Thank you for your time and effort

I have found the name of the key that keeps popping up every now and then. It is called the "pipe key" which is made by pressing shift+\ key.

Example "|Y" or "E|" like i said it doesn't happen with only that key. Any how like I said it occurs every now and then to different types of keys, and there is no way that I know of which capital letter will be affected next. Normally I would just reinstall the Office 2003 but i do not have administrator rights to do so.
