Problems with Excel

I am experiencing with Excel 2003. Nearly every time I start excel, or open a previous worksheet, as soon as I click on one cell it is as if my select button is locked. I can not move the mouse at all without Excel selecting all of the cells I move over. I am unable to 'x out' of the program. The only way to clear it up is to control/alt/delete and shut down the entire program.

This is a problem on both my laptop and my desktop. I think that I must have a corrupt file that I keep trying to access and it's making it happen.

Help. I have to use Excel and have no way of using it currently.
