Hi,

I know this topics been discussed here many times. But please be patient with me and help me here. I am new to computers and am unable to understand or implement most of the steps given in the other threads.

Heres my problem:

My laptop is a dell inspiron 1150 with windows xp sp2 and Bios version A06. I dont have a working cd drive or any floppy drive in this. All this time I have been using an external Cd/DVD drive. A few days ago, I got BSoD

Stop: c000021a {fatal system eror}

The Windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000135 (0x0000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.

The Bios allows me to boot from External USB storage drive. So i am trying to find a way to make a USB drive bootable. I tried BartPE but I got some warnings saying some .sys files are missing.

I have an IBM thinkpad from which to work. But it has lots of restrictions on it as it belongs to my office.

So can some one plz plz tell me what to do in simple steps.

P.s. I have some important information on the laptop and would like to avoid formatting it.

I think the culprit for the BSod is some windows updates i installed a few days ago. Is there anyway to access recovery console and uninstall them so I can boot again.
