Hello guys - long time lurker and fan of the site, but now I have a problem and need your help myself. I've looked around and there are similar problems to this, but nothing quite the same.

Anyway, I'm a long-time XP user and installed Vista in a dual boot config on a second drive - all was working fine until this morning when my primary HDD which (contained XP and my bootloader) died. No problem, I thought - I'll run the Vista repair from the dvd and get it to reinstall my bootloader.

Only, it doesn't!

I've tried the various bootrec fixes too and all I get is a 'missing element' error when trying to fix the mbr and the bcd.

The Vista installation is perfectly intact on my second drive - how do I get the PC to load it when I start up my machine? As I said, all my boot files were on my primary HDD which is now dead :(

Any help you guys can give me will be much appreciated.
