LeveL
I want to install Opera silently and set the homepage to www.google.co.ukI know how to do the silent install already (setup.msi /quiet) and all I wantto know is how to set the homepage so it will visit the homepage I set... onthe first run of Opera. I searched the forum but theres no answer.Heres what I tried:1 - Searched the entire registry for google.co.uk and it doesn't appear anywhere!2 -So I thought it must be set in the Opera program folder. I searched inside every singletext based file (INI files, CSS files etc) and google.co.uk does not appear there either! So I am completely stuck with this. Its no wonder people say Opera is secure, thatsthe problem - where/how do you set the homepage?!Opera would open google.co.uk if it was opened and closed with that pageopen but if thats the case then where is it saving THAT information?Hmmmmmmm, I suppose theres only one other place - buried away in Application Data Edited March 9, 2007 by LeveL
dennxyz
I did this way back when and although it's not the neatest setup it worked so I stayed with it.The file that contains your opera configuration is the "opera.ini" file located in:C:\Documents and Settings\your profile name\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile[user Prefs]Home URL=http://your homepage hereI suggest doing an install of Opera normally, do all your tweaks, including Bookmarks, then copying the Opera profile folder, including the "toolbar" folder to your cd, DVD or hard drive or whatever you use as an install media. I use a 40 gb external hard drive so space is not an issue. When you do the silent install, copy the folder over to your profile. My cmdfile starts Opera to have it create the user profile, then I use pskill to kill it, and then xcopy my files over.
