Step by step RIS installation and configuration on W2K3S + SP1?

Hi there!

I was trying to find the above topic ... and find some useful infos ... but ...

I got a specific wish:)

I was able to make 2 flat images with RIS - W2K3S Ent. Ed. + SP1 and Windows XP + SP2

Default config is that it will destroy all partitions and data and make just one large partition to install OS

and more unuseful config params which does not fit into my needs ...

..so, my wish is:

How can i make RIS to deploy unattended installation of flat image to one specific client which differs from each other only by hostname and IP?

i mean ... i want to go to the client machine and press F12 ... want to select OS, write in the hostname and IP (other network params would be somewhere in .sif file i guess?) and at the end would press Enter and the proccess of deploying will start !

Is there a way to "tell" RIS (.sif files) to create/repartition one primary C partition about 20GB big and install flat image OS there ?

I know that i am asking too much ... i appreciate if someone can help me to resolve the issue or at least give me some helpful references ...

Brgds,

Sero

As far as I know, you can only set partition sizes with RIPREP images.

You could pre-partition the drive using partition magic or similar then ask RIS not to change anything.

[Data]

AutoPartition=1

[unattended]

Repartition = No

FileSystem = LeaveAlone

RIS can auto generate a hostname to your specification, and join the domain.

DHCP supplies IP address.
