idbubble Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Hi Every one .I seiously need some help here i have spent 4wks trying to find an answer to a problem Im having with installing office 2003?????????? Ok from the top..... Bought office 2003 back in 2004 august .Ok I had that installed on my Old Pc.the old one gave up the ghost !! Over Doing it Mi Thinks So out i went and bought myself a note book. Installed it on that ....No problems there?? Then i wanted to go back to a desk top so i Bought one !! : then i wanted to install this on my new Pc aaaaaannnnnnnnnnd Guess what ......... so many problems i cant begin to explain.. the major problem with the install is this error RUNTIME ERRORMICROSOFT VISUAL C++ RUNTIME LIBRARYRuntime errorProgramsC:\Windows\Sytem32\MSIEXEC.EXEThis application has requested that the runtime to terminate in an unsusual way1/ Not a Copy.2. In very good Nick (not damaged)3. have tried to install openOffice2.0 and i still get the very same messageAny Clues cos i have nonCheersPaul IDbubble

prathapml Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I get same error with Office 2007.Remove windows installer 3.1, & reboot & then install the Windows Installer 3.1 v2.
cluberti Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I second removing and reinstalling the installer engine. I've seen msiexec come broken by default on OEM installs from major vendors, and a reinstall fixes it. Not sure what they do to break it though .
