multichild Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Hi all,Recently I had a very bad virus problem which cleaned out all my plug and play stuff and a load of other important things. So baiscally rather than f discing that hard drive, I put a new one in and put windows and all on that, so using the old one as a slave whilst i take my time to transfer all my files over.I was using outlook on the old hard drive for all my pop3 emails, and it contained all my emails and personal stuff...I loaded office back onto the new hard drive, and was given the advice to do a search for *.pst files on the old drive, and when found import them using the new outlook on the new hard drive so Im up and running again.I tried it last night and couldnt find any .pst files, and so does this mean that basically I will never be able to retrieve those files, or was this person wrong and I should be looking for somethng else?cheersLee
multichild Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 Ok I sorted it out last night,The advice to search for the *.pst file was correct, and why I wasnt finding it is because I had to search in hidden folders and files...I picked up a thread in another post on here, where the pro was telling somebody where to physically find the .pst file, and so when i tried I realised that i couldnt find some of those files, and thats when it dawned on me that it must be in a hidden file, and there it was.Lee
