I already had Windows XP installed on my C: drive. I bought a new hard drive and then installed Vista on it (Drive D:). I started the Vista install from inside of Windows XP, so it dual booted the two systems.

Now whenever I restart the computer, it asks me if I want to start "Windows Vista" or the "Earlier Version of Windows".

I want to remove my C: drive from my system and only run Vista, which is on the D: Drive. Whenever I do this, however, I get a message saying that NTLDR is missing and I can't boot into Vista. How do I fix this problem so that I can finally get rid of Windows XP?

I would really appreciate any help with this matter. I've Googled the hell out of this problem and tried a lot of different things all to no avail.

If you installed the Vista in drive D, your problem is "the reference to drive install, or, the reference to drive "D" when installing!

This can help you, but...

Always install the system older before, and, the newer after! So, the newer will know to act due to the situation

try my advice: (manual mode)

1 - Install ONLY 1o HD and INSTALL the system that you desire

2 - Install ONLY 2o HD and INSTALL the system that you desire

3 - Set the HD with VISTA as Drive C and start your pc

or

1 - 2 hd in pc

2 - install XP in drive D

3 - install Vista in drive C

Note: anyway, you'll have problem with the DRIVE REFERENCE to install any system

NEW BOOT.INI in VISTA SYSTEM

SEE the command BCDEDIT for new boot.ini system in Vista (or F1 in DESKTOP AREA)
