redspiral Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Hi,I have the following operating system:OS Name: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional / Version: 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 Build 2195I really hope somebody here can help me out. I have been trying to install a trial version of an application called PHP Magicsee: http://www.websitedatabases.com/download.html and am very keen to get it working. On installation i receive the following error:C:\WINNT\system32\msxml2.dllUnable to register the DLL/OCX: LoadLibrary failed; code 1114.A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation. - [Abort] [Regry] [ignore]I have contacted the vendor and received the following response..."Win2k is not the issue. It is the system may not be up to date with service packs. You may be missing this dll that comes with windows updates and supports xml.You can download here or from Microsoft.http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files....load.html"then my response:I checked my system and I did already have a copy of the file, however, I have downloaded a new version asstipulated to C:\WINNT\system32\.I have restarted a number of times and then tried to re-install - but still get exactly the same error. I should mention that I am over diligent at keeping my Windows and all other system updates up-to-date. Do you have any further advice?, as would really like to try and then hopefully buy PHPMagic, but it's notlooking good right now.and finally theirs:Sorry I do not have any other suggestions at this time. We have over 7 thousand users of PHPMagic and no current open tickets for this issue so I have no other sugestions at this time.Since then I have tried going to Start, Run and typing in: regsvr32 msxml2.dllbut receive the error: "Load Library("msxml2.dll") failed - A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed."Is there anybody here who can advise me? I have trawled the Microsoft site, but to no avail. Would really like to sort this. Thanks in anticipation.
cluberti Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Usually, these errors are due to problems with permissions on the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT key and it's subkeys for the user running the command or the installation. Run Process Monitor while running regsvr32 against msxml2.dll, and see if you get any access denied errors specifically to the registry.
redspiral Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 Many thanks for your response cluberti.I am not an expert at such things, but I have followed your advice and "Run Process Monitor while running regsvr32 against msxml2.dll". Most of the errors seem to be FAST IO DISALLOWED and NAME NOT FOUND.I have created 2 versions of the log file (under 200k) in .csv and .pml format.I'm afraid I don't know how to interpret these results and I'm not sure how to share them as the Forum restricts me attaching these file types.Really really want to get this working and any input as to "what next" will be hugely appreciated.
