Vista video problem with a game

Recently I decided to evaluate Vista Businesss. Dualboot system with XP/Vista and installation worked fine and updated through Windows Update.

All latest drivers are installed and system seems to work as it should. Nothing out of the ordinary really so I wanted to try a game so I could see

the video performance with the installed Radeon X800GT card.

Only game available was World of Warcraft installed on another partition. Since I have been running WoW before from a different partition in XP

without any problems by just running the game launcher I tried the same in Vista.

Now things got really interesting! Game launcher worked fine and I clicked on play button and after a short load period the online logon screen showed.

Sort of showed anyway. It was hardly beautiful, screen flickering seemingly struggling with some kind of weird transparancy problem. Imagine the screen duplicated 5 times on top of each other slightly out of sync flickering madly.

At first glance this seemed like a problem with Aeroglass so I nuked all fancy settings and set everything to a simple basic windows look. Started the game

again with exactly the same result as before.

DXdiag showed no problems, audio fine also and after some general poking around I have to admin I can't find the problem. I have not done a clean installation of WoW in Vista yet, will try that soon.

Any suggestions on what to do next except install WoW and move to tweaking the game itself somehow (from what I understand there is some *.ini files I can fool around with to tweak game settings)?

Anyone else sen any issues like these?
