Guest mexican Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 (edited) Okay, so I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 RTM. All I want is to add my FLAC files to my WMP library. So first off I installed Core FLAC so that they'll play (and they play just fine in WMP x86 version). Now, what's wacky is that if WMP is closed and I open a FLAC file it opens the x64 WMP which, of course, can't play it. I went to the registry and edited HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppPaths\wmplayer.exe so that the default path is the 32-bit WMP. No go; FLAC still won't open that version. Same thing after rebooting and such. Now, the second problem. I want to add my FLAC files to the library, as I mentioned up top. To do so I added the following keys to the registry:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.flac]]"PerceivedType"="audio""Content Type"="audio/flac"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\WMPlayer\Extensions\.flac]"Runtime"=dword:00000006"Permissions"=dword:0000000f"UserApprovedOwning"="yes""PerceivedType"="audio""Extension.MIME"="audio/flac"(I had to add that second bracket after the first key as a page break in that quote (). The original doesn't have that typo.)No go there as well. When I add the audio folder to the library it categorizes all of the FLACs as "Other" and not "Music".Does anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong here?EDIT:Changed title since I think it more accurately describes the problem now. Guest mexican Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 I have to imagine that the problem here lies with WMC/WMP; they are quite possibly still buggy. I say this because it seems random whether or not they'll add files to the library. For instance, after installing some program with purports to have registered .flac with WMP (though I see no added registry keys) WMP will now add the files to the library. However, WMC will not add those same files to it's library. No, it won't even find any files unless I add them with WMP first. Well heck, the Xbox 360 WMC will add the files, however, though it can't play them. Now, I tried to add mkv, ogm, and ts. I installed FFDShow and Haali Media Splitter (which can handle all three of those containers) and HDTVPump. I should be loaded for bear. First thing I notice is that the files will open WMP x64 unless x32 is open. The mkv and ogm files will play in x32 (of course since they have codecs and a splitter) but ts crashes the player. The files have the proper keys in HKEY_Classes_Root but WMP will still not add them to the library. Of course neither will WMC. Xbox 360 WMC will add the files to its library though I can't see that they are there afterwards (the small menu pops up and shows how man files are being added). A buddy of mine just installed Vista and asked if I was having problems with WMP not adding files to the library. Next I see him I'm going to mention that I think it's bugged.
