Milan Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Does any one know how to (if possible) change the Tab names or add tabs when you dselect File:new and the templates come up. e.g at the moment i have Legal Pleadings, Letters &Faxes etc and i want to add my own in. Thanks
XJ9 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 (edited) You would need to create your own folders in the Template Directory. The way that I do this is to open a blank document or the document that you want in your new tab and then click File ... Save As. Then I choose Document Template as the Save as type. That takes you to the folder where the templates are stored. You should be able to right-click anywhere in that folder and choose New ... Folder for the pop up menu. Name your folder and that will be the name that shows on the tab in your templates dialog box. Just put the templates that you want to show under that tab in that folder. You can just navigate to that folder if you know where it is. To me this is about the easiest way - but that is just me..... A word of caution though, MS can only have so many tabs showing at once. So if you exceed that number (I don't know what it is exactly or it might be limited to screen space) it will start putting your extra folders that it cannot display in a tab called More. I don't think you can change the default folder names but I have never tried. HTHTracy Edited November 22, 2006 by XJ9
Milan Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 Thanks Tracy, that was nice and easy. Now to get rid of the standard ones.
