datarunner Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Hi AllI was practicing some unattended setups from my main pc to systems with no OS over my network. I got it to work (eventually) and just wanted to check that i was doing it right or if there is another / better way.Here what i did:created a distribution share on my main pc via setup manager with an unattended .sif filecopied the .sif into the i386 dirbooted up the pc with no OS with BartsPE CD with networking supportnavigated to the share \ i386 on my main pc using the Bart cdran winnt32.exesetup seems to have went okso is this a good way or is there a more simpler one etc?all info appreciated
cluberti Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 If you've got a Windows 2000 or 2003 server machine, RIS would be easier. If you are doing straight network installs from a network share, that's probably the best way.Note that there are ways to do RIS via a Linux server, although I've not tried it:http://oss.netfarm.it/guides/pxe.php
