JamesC Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Guys, ive got a problem with IE7 and Windows Live Messenger. On the network I maintain many users have roaming profiles. During logoff certain folders are excluded from being copied back to the respository of profiles that I have on a server, namely "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings". The problem I have discovered is that both live messenger and IE7 now create a settings folder within "Local Settings" which stores logon information for messenger, and settings for IE7.As a result, when a user logs off, their profile is copied backup to the server (minus the "Local Settings" folder which is excluded). Of course the next time a user logs on this folder is obviously not available. This means- 1) The user has to enter all of their messenger login details again. 2) When running IE7 they are prompted with a 'Fix Settings' page the first time they use it after logging on.Surely microsoft would have thought about the consequences of saving settings in this location if users on a domain have a roaming profile?? I cant believe they would have overlooked something like that.Or- (more likely), am I missing something? Thanks,James Clements
