Win 64 failing at bootup following mobo swap

Hoping someone can help with this one (and you may have seen its ilk before).

I previously had an Abit VIA-chipset based mobo running Win XP 64-bit with no issues. I've just installed an Asus A8N-SLI Premium mobo with new video card and am getting Win 64 fall over at bootup. Safe mode tells me it's stopping just after acpitabl.dat.

Some internet trawling has led me to the conclusion it may be a NForce4 chipset driver issue - possibly SATA related. The big issue is that I don't want to have to reinstall Win 64 in any way if I can help it. I'm not running any RAID.

Is there anything I can do, either via floppy or recovery console, that is going to help here? BIOS is up to date.

Any help very much appreciated

System:

AMD 3200+

Asus A8N-SLI Premium

NVidia 7950GT

1gb RAM

1 x IDE HDD, 1 x SATA HDD

when swapping out the mobo, you should uninstall all chipset drivers first ;)

i've managed to use the same install before swapping mobo's, but that was swapping between nf2 boards.. ie the same chipset :)

you wouldn't keep forceware drivers installed when swapping out to an ATI card.. the same applies.
