 I'm trying to use another Web Browser than IE6. I would like a Web Browser with tabs (IE6 has a feature by means tool bar, Windows Live Toolbar, but I find it becomes very unstable), that allows me access to my hard disk (IE7 opens automatically explorer if I try to open a folder in my local hard disk).

Then I have tried Firefox and other web browsers more like IE explorer (Slim Browser, Avant Browser, Maxthorp...) but I always have the same problem:

When I navigate in my local hard disk, the default view is "icon view" or "tile view". Never "list view". I can change to list view mode (right button click, contextual menu, view, list), but it doesn't remain: If I enter inside a folder and I come back to the parent folder, it changes to icon view (or tile view). I would like to navigate in my hard disk always in list view mode but it seems impossible.

I have investigated (registry, bags, mru bags, shell state, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams, and of course, select list view in one folder and apply this view to all folders by means of explorer view options) but nothing works.

Do you know any simple way to get it? I just wan to navigate in my local drives in "list view mode" with any other browsers than Internet Explorer 6. It doesn't seems so dificult at the beginning.

Thanks

Your answer should lie within Windows Explorer. For instance, open Windows Explorer by either opening My Computer, or right-click My Computer and select Explorer. Now select List View from the View menu, then Go to the Tools menu and select Options. Select the View tab and click on "Apply to All Folders" (Click Yes on the Folder Views window that will popup, it may also be a good idea to scroll down the list in Advanced Settings and make sure that "Remember each folder's view settings" is checked.

Hopefully I understood your problem and this will help you.

Thank you, VCC, for your help. :) .

Unfortunately, this solution only works with Internet Explorer. With other browsers (Firefox, Maxthon, Slim Browser...) it doesn'have any effect and the tile view (or icon view) persists in all folders.

I have reinstalled Internet Explorer 6, with windows live toolbar and in this way I get tab-browser and list view, now it seems a bit more stable that last time, but I don't know how long it will work. In addition, when IE6 becomes unsupported, I'm affraid that I will have the same problem any other time
