directplay and soundblaster

I'm having troubles with my mic on my nlite winxp install. and after searching for a few days on this forum and google I've come up with only useless junk.

I get the usual errors, no suitable networking, add dpvsetup to add/remove programs.....

Its set to full hardware acceleration, and I've tried the editing the duplex registry entry's and none of its worked?!?!

any idea what I need to leave in or install? I use the latest drivers off the creative website and have tryed re-installing directX?

ok I seem to have narrowed down the cause, my firewall? I use the nvidia firewall and for some reason it seems to block directsound?
