Try looking at Internet Options, Connections, LAN SEttings, try checking/unchecking the Automatically Detect Settings tab.

We had a little intruder this afternoon and he f***ed everything up. Its being fixed as we speak or has already been fixed. I apoligies.

Hello everyone, heres my problem, running XP and trying to start IE (cable modem) it sits there for about 20 secs trying to "detect proxy settings" then it will connect, this is new problem everything was ok prev. It's not my service provider as i have 2 systems and the other is perfect. I removed zone alarm still no go. Any ideas ?

Thanks all !, unchecking the auto detect proxy server did it !, news to me how it got changed to begin with, oh well what the hell working fine now.
