unattened R2 disc not recognized as MS installation disc by admin pack

Recommended Posts

I was trying to do auto partition, unattended installation of 2003 server R2 and admin pak installation with a BartPE DVD.

The DVD contains BartPE and the content of the R2 discs.

Partitioning and unattended installation work fine. When it comes to installation admin pak after the 1st auto login, it complains my DVD is not MS installation disc and refuses to continue.

Here is my dir structure on the DVD

\

\I386 (from BartPE's)

\programs (from BartPE)

\w2k3R2\I386 (copy i386 from R2 disc 1)

\CMPNENTS (from R2 disc 2)

\w2k3R2\$OEM$

\w2k3R2\$OEM$\$1

\w2k3R2\$OEM$\$$

Seems like some files are missing in \I386 and admin pak cannot identify the DVD as R2 installation disc.

Please help.

I can't say for sure, but you probably just need to move the CMPNENTS folder to be in the same folder as the R2 I386 folder:

\

\I386 (from BartPE's)

\programs (from BartPE)

\w2k3R2\I386 (copy i386 from R2 disc 1)

\w2k3R2\CMPNENTS (from R2 disc 2)

\w2k3R2\$OEM$

\w2k3R2\$OEM$\$1

\w2k3R2\$OEM$\$$

Hi inthewyboy,

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think moving CMPNENT dir to w2k3r2 works. I've tried copying all files from R2's i386 to \I386 and it works. But this does not seems to be an elegant solution because I am wasting about 100MB space on the disc with duplicated files. It takes time to find out what files exactly admin pack checks and I am just wondering if anyone here has the solution.
