Browser Java Problem? Help!

For some time now, I've been unable to delete, move or designate as spam my e-mail on Yahoo. When placing checkmarks next to selected items and then clicking on either delete or spam...nothing happens...the buttons simply do not work...other websites and programs are fine. This happens with IE, Firefox and Opera. I've tried uninstalling Java restarting...same problem...reinstalling Java, restarting....same problem. My dual boot linux distro is no prob of course but I've no intention of dumping Windows. Running XP Hpme SP2. Any ideas out there?

Complete scans with Spybot, Ad-Aware, SpySweeper and AntiVir all come up negative......frustrating!
