Users and Hardware profiles

Hello all. Hope you can help...

I want to assign hardware profile to users.

I want to set up an audio user that doesn't have network card access and doesn't have all the extra software running, like printer drivers and security stuff, as well as a general user that has all the bells and whistles.

I've searched all over the internet and found out a bit about users and administrator, and hardware profiles, but I'm a bit overwhelmed to just get stuck in.

Should I setup the hardware profiles before I install updates and extra hardware (like the USB printer and camera) and set up the security software?

I'm on a refurbished Packard Bell with XP-SP2 on a recovery partition. I use a USB printer, camera, pendrive and camcorder. I also use a virtual drive (which I want to work with my audio setup).

I sort of know what I'm doing and I'm kind of ready once I've backed up, but this is the first time I've done this and wanted any warnings or advice before I totally screwed something up...
