Patrick-Mav
Hi there, this might be a dumb question, but I still don't get the usage of WinXP on a SATA drive.I am setting up an ASUS P5B (without deluxe) with one SATA HDD connected to the IH8 SATA Port 1.If I set the BIOS option 'Use SATA as standard IDE', do I still need to F6 some SATA drivers from Intel into a WinXP installation or not? Thanks for some feedback on this. I really appreciate the help.RegardsPatrick
mmarable
Typically, if you set the SATA to emulate a standard IDE controller in your BIOs you don't need any SATA drivers to install and use Windows.I've used other Asus boards and haven't had any problems running the SATA controller in this "IDE Emulateion" mode.
