prx984 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 your best bet would be to do a fresh install (never have been a fan of upgrading, it leaves a lot of useless stuff behind, that and it hinders system performance. i.e, you won't get the full experience of XP)but... the problem with doing that, is you'll lose all of your programs/documents you had previously.if you need more help on getting the process going, post back and i'll see what i can do for you
LadyCTP Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 I am sorry i should have specified that I didnt use the upgrade option i was doing a full install and clearing out everything and i recieved the error message with the full install. The upgrade wouldnt work because the computer has gateway go back on it and that program keeps the upgrade selection from working. So I figured the only thing i can do now is get past this file corupt or missing issue.
prx984 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 did you delete the main hdd partition and create a new one, thus starting from scratch? if not, try that. that will wipe the drive clean and it should allow you to finish installing xp.
