Sizzle Beast Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 (edited) Hi,Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but i figured that it would be worth mentioning if people had not seen it before, because it quite a bit easier.I was going through the unatteneded guide for the first time, making my first slipsteam (although i have a large amount of windows experience) and ran into the updates section. I starting doing the method with windows update, however i got very uninterested very quickly, like i would expect from most people. What i realized was that the tool MBSA from Microsoft does the whole job for you, assuming that you can work with a installation of Windows in a virtual machine. You can run MBSA from inside the virtual machine and once run, it will list all of you updates that one needs and have a download link, which will open your web broswer (usually MSIE). You can obtain the update without much work at all.Link to MBSA: MBSAUsuing MBSA:Once you have installed it and launched it, you will want to select scan a computer. From here, you can usually be fine with the default options, however, its your choice.Options I use. From there, once you click scan, it will take a few minutes to scan. In the scan results, it will list the Windows Security Updates, and say you have X updates missing. You want to click Result Details to view the updates. In that area, it will list all the updates you need and supply a link to each one on the far right link.I hope this helps someone looking to gain some time doing updates.Btw, sorry for the lack/bad picture quality. I'm working in a vm right now, w/out enough ram, which makes it quite hard to get much done.Edit: Just for anyone that doesn't quite get what i'm talking about, i was thinking about this page.Updates Edited October 1, 2006 by Sizzle Beast
