I've got a question about generating computernames in a unattended installation. i found this topic. But this is not my question.

I wan't to generate the computername by serialnumber in the bios. I know it's possible by VBS, but I wan't to do this in the unattended installation, because VBS is blocked.

If it's not possibel does anybody know how to build the vb-script(wmi)

Take a look at a tool called "CompName.exe", it will pull the info you want and with a little batch file scirpting it will rename the computer.

I used it to rename computers based upon the MAC address and/or the asset tag on Dell machines.
