Office 2007 eats my processes after Send

i've been having this issue for some time, and have just decided that it's occurring after i Send an email. When i select any of my emails in the Top (Left) pane, nothing changes in the Reading Pane - Outlook kinda locks down... so i've noticed that my System Resources stick at 85 to 90% when Send and i have to close and reopen, at which point all is well again.

anyone have an idea 'sup with that?
