FUJIFILM FinePix A200 & XP

I have an FinePix A200, which I can't connect to my Thinkpad. I've had the laptop about four weeks (new). The first week, I could connect to the camera. I had installed SUSE Linux however and ran into networking problems immediately. So, I reinstalled XP from the secured drive and over-wrote SUSE and everything else. Ever since, camera doesn't connect. Lenovo tech support says it's compatibilty/supprt issues - but, if it is, why was there the earlier connectivity? Please help...
