Hi there

Thanks to nLite i was saved when trying to install a HP Pavillion ML150 G3 server with windows 2003 server, which required 3rd party SATA controller to be installed during setup, but of course HP's server didn't come with a floppy drive to install it from (nor a FIDE to plug one in with) faced with the delemma of having to buy an HP USB floppy drive (because another one that was tested didn't work HP's are configured for they're systems to set them to A:\) or finding another way to install the controller drivers. nLite came and saved the day.

However the point that i want to make that may be useful is that after installation is complete you may received an error such as this

'Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.

Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.

Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.'

This has occured i found because the boot.ini file wasn't created with the correct attributes.

In order to solve this problem then insert the server 2003 disk 1, go into the recovery console command promt and type bootcfg / rebuild

Follow the options presented, making sure you type Y to add the installation to boot list. After all steps are complete restart the machine and from the boot list select the one you created (the top one most probably)

This should allow windows to boot, after windows has started check the boot.ini file in C:\ and amend the file so that the settings are correct and remove the second boot installation from the list

Hope this is helpful to anyone.

Trizzo
