sysadm88 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) I have a problem, I'm trying to install Windows 2003 using RIS over an existing Linux partition - is there absolutely no way of doing this unattended?I'm resigned to boot up each server using the Windows 2003 setup cd, then manually delete all the partitions, and recreate a new partition - this is the only way for RIS to be able to deploy an image or so it seems.A quick question - do brand new servers already come with their hard drive partitioned or not? For me, RIS seems to require at least 1 partition already created....and I thought it could build servers from bare metal? blink.gifIs there any way to get round this problem? My ristndrd.sif contains:[data](AutoPartition is absent)[unattended]FileSystem = LeaveAlone[RemoteInstall]Repartition = YesUseWholeDisk = Yes Edited August 16, 2006 by sysadm88
Br4tt3 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Dell is also using some kind of Linux distrib. to boot the machine initially. Anyway, I am not much of a penguine guy but I think they have like 9909099 sorts of filesystems.. the other guys are running Red Hat of the machines but there is no probs reinstalling the machines using RIS and Windows. I am using the following within my .sif file:[Unattended]ExtendOemPartition=0FileSystem=ConvertNTFS[RemoteInstall]Repartition=YesUsually when a new machine arrives, I have to go into the RAID controller UI and set up the logical volumes and so on.. have u cjecked that this has been done from the controller?
