durundal
Hello, I found this site while searching for an answer to a problem I had and I figured since this forums deals with modifying the windows boot disk I might as well ask it here.I am fairly new to computers but I am trying to modify my windows cd so I can boot it on a usb hard drive. The problem I ran into is that i need to extract some ".inf" files from a ".IN_" file and the only tool I can find that can do this (cab SDK) does not seem to work. The window pops up for an instant then it disappears.Does anyone here know of any programs that can extract files from a .IN_ file?
muiz
Try next time to be more clear instead of just Could somebody help me?.IN_ means its a .cab file. You can open such files with winrar. Edited August 16, 2006 by muiz
Maelstorm
There's a program in the same directory as the window source called EXPAND.EXE. You use it at a DOS prompt with parameters.Example:E:\Deployment\DVD_Build>EXPAND -R 12520437.CP_ .Microsoft ® File Expansion Utility Version 5.1.2600.0Copyright © Microsoft Corp 1990-1999. All rights reserved.Expanding 12520437.cp_ to .\12520437.cpx.12520437.cp_: 843 bytes expanded to 2151 bytes, 155% increase.HTH.PS: Next time be a little more descriptive in your subject line...something like "How do you uncompress .IN_?" would have been a better subject line.
