Dialogue Box Problems, ETC

Hello,

I am not a computer expert, but I generally manage to fix my computer problems. But now, I have a problem that I just can not fix. It started when I tried to download a trial version of adobe acrobat 7.0 professional. I got a few error messages but it eventually worked. While I could get adobe to work, i downloaded a few other programs. I have since uninstalled all of those programs. Here are the problems: 1) at the inception of a download, I can not save the file to a location. The open button works, however and download the file. 2) The browse button on the RUN dialogue box does not work. 3) The file-save as option in IE 6.0 does not work(I get an error message-The web page would not be saved because one of its files is missing, 4) The save as in outlook expressdoes not work. Also, when I sign as an administartor the problems go away. Can anyone help?

I forgot to mention that Iam using windows 2000. Someone suggested that I upgrade to XP. Any thoughts?
