Table of contents

I made some edits to a document, resetting the page numbering and then generted a new Table of Contents that would reflect the changes is page numbering. I then discovered some of the numbering was still incorrect and went to reset the changes in that section. When I went to update the Table of Contents I got this message: Error! Table of contents entries not found.

I can still see the TOC markers and they still define themselves as TOC 1, TOC 2, etc. but they will not register in order to generate a Table of contents.
