unique hardware-id in AD?

Featured Replies

Does the computer-object in a 2k3 Active Directory have a propery which can be used to identify a computer after it an image has been writen over de HD.

The idea is this: After the image (norton ghost) has been writen to the pc it boots and run sysprep again and some scripts to set it's name. During those scripts I have to type in the name of the pc myself and after everything is finsihed i have to move all pc's to the proper OU. I want to make the script read unique id from the pc (the mac-adres for instance) query the AD for all computer-account and check then for that property. If found i want to get the old sAMAccountName and the OU, then delete the computer-account, rename the new computer and move it to the proper OU.

I used a script to get all the properties of the computer-object but i havn't been able to find the kind of property I need.
