pcuccia Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Hi all,I am 2 AMD Operton 242 CPU's installed on a Tyan 2885 motherboard. The bios reads both cpu's. I had Windows 2000 Server on the system and both cpu's were recognized. Recently I bought a new hard drive and installed Windows 2003 Server and can't get both CPU's to be read. I tried reinstalling the OS but that didn't work. Does anyone know of something else I could try. Thanks in advance.
cluberti Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Go to the device manager and see what Computer type your system sees - if it says uniprocessor PC, you'll need to change it and install the Multiprocessor PC type.
pcuccia Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 it comes up UniProcessor. I tried the multiprocessor but I not sure if I'm doing it right because it still doesn't come up. Any information on how to. Thanks
cluberti Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Well, if it sees both processors in XP and not 2003 (which is really odd if you've got a multiprocessor kernel installed), perhaps the vendor has a BIOS update that can help?
pcuccia Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 Okay, I looked and I already have the latest bios update. What I meant by that I tried the MultiProcessor was that I tried to upgrade from Uni to Multi but the multi option is not there.
