Hey!

so heres the deal, i have the vista beta 2 dvd from microsoft, i am tryin to install the 32 bit version

my computer consists of an SATA raid 0 with win xp on it

and then i have 2 western digial 120gb drives on a regular IDE channel

i am trying to install vista to 1 of the 120gb drives so that i can have xp and vista, but if vista messes up it wont affect my xp install

so before i even attempt to go into the set up i change the boot priority from my SATA raid to the 120gb drive i plan to install vista on, then i reboot and it boots from the DVD

and i start going throuh the set up and i select clean install, then the drive i want to put it on (which is formatted NTFS) after i select the drive and hit next it goes to the next screen and then gives me this error message

"an error occured while prepairing windows setup to into the next stage of setup"

this error is so vauge that i have no idea what could be going wrong

any ideas?

thanks in advance

It means your download iso is corrupt. It took me 12 tries to get a working 32 bit vista b2. Consider that? Test in virtual pc, bochs or vmware?

Shame that M$ didn't use Bittorrent. Then, the file would be split into tons of tiny pieces and the client would hash check all of them, and if one piece had a hashfail, it would only need to dl like 1mb again or something.

But if you used the dvd kit order option, did you click to format the partition?

i Ordered the DVD stright from microsofts website, i formatted the entire drive in windows before i tried installing it (NTFS) and once while i was attempting to intsall it using the format option in the setup (NTFS)
