ok i have a copy of windows xp pro sp1, an i have a copy of windows xp pro sp2. but they are slightly different....

on the sp1 disk i can actually put it into the pc an boot from it then rearrange partitions, format an setup xp.

but the sp2 disk i cannot, the only way i can get it to is install is by having an operating system already on the computer. but then if i choose a fresh install it still leaves the old operating system files there.

my questions are how can i get the sp2 disk to do what the sp1 disk is doing?

is there a program i can slipstream into the disk for it to do this?

is there any files i can edit?

thanks in advanced

Going out on a limb I'd say the SP2 disc isn't an original, right? Sounds to me as if the data was just copied over and therefore you don't have the bootsector.
