Problem with WIndows 2000 Update

Featured Replies

Hi

I have recently installed critical updates (eg SP4 and all security updates) to two Windows 2000 Servers. Following this update both servers suffered the same problem.

The folder tree disappears from the left hand pane of explorer - only a blank gray pane remains and there seems to be no obvious way to fix it. I have not noticed this problem on Windows 2000 Professional when given the same updates.

As you can imagine this is somewhat inconvenient

Does anyone know

1 - Is there a fix

2 - Which update could have caused it

Many thanks

I have pinned down the bug to one of the following three updates. My suspicions are with the Internet Explorer update. I am surprised this bug isnt listed at Microsoft as it is a signifiicant and very annoying problem which must have been experienced by others. Temprorarily I have been able to rollthese three back to w a functioning environment

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (Windows 2000)*

330994: April 2003, Security Update for Outlook Express 5.5 Service Pack 2

Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Express Install for End Users*

Its most likely to be Internet Explorer, as Windows Explorer uses the integrated Internet Explorer to function.
